Russ and Jerry, I've been known to use rubber, foam and others, in my ties. Also, packing materials, fast food containers, and parts of junk cars. Save the Earth!

Russ, I fear we have an anti traditionalist junky on our hands.   :'(

Junk cars??  I suppose we'll be hearing of the carburator calibaetis before long.   ::)

Regards,  Jerry

Dixie, my yellow lab and I want to know what he did with the fast food that came in the containers?
This gives us another whole tray of excuses for stopping at Arby's.  We'd be happy with the puns, oops I mean buns ;D.Russ

asdf,
Russ is right on with his fly selection... If you don't have the means to obtain a variety, stick with pheasant tails & princes.  Go to your library, there is a wealth of free material.  Learn how to "quick nymph" with nymphs n soft hackles.  Soft hackle pts with and with out beads work great!
As far as tradition goes... I always troll in the Boundary Waters with a #7 Rap on a 7 or 8wt.  Oh yeah...
Take the trebles off a small floating rap.  Put a single, sharp, hook on the forward ring.  Connect a length of mono to the back ring and tie on a pupa, nymph, etc.  You can cast this with style.
A double on smallies happens... the floater is also a great indicator ;)
