Second Season

We both managed to get a bird this morning. Lots of gobbling early, quite once they hit the ground, lots of shooting this morning also. Geese, ducks and cranes were making noise and the swans were heading NW. Great Morning.

Excellent job Andy and Lu. Didn't you two shoot birds the same day last year also?

Bob

That was two years ago, but Lu Ann has been three years in a row within the first two hours of the first day, she's got big skunk coming.

Fire up the smoker.

Congratulations you two. I'm wondering if any of these feathers at the base of the wing are still around?

Thanks Andy. The ones closer to the body are better, but I'll take the whole set of secondaries if you can get them.

20 degree temps, 20+ years of turkey hunting, my first Jake.

Sorry Gimp I did not see what feathers you wanted until it was too late.

I popped a bird Saturday morning at about 7 a.m.  Friggin' cold out - couldn't feel my toes and was happy to be able to move.  8 jakes and a 2 year old Tom came out.  Skirted wide but dropped him at a lasered 45 yards.  All the patterning and playing with loads payed off.

I went out and pulled the wing feathers off the carcass this morning Gimp.  Send me your address and I'll throw them in a big tyvek envelope and send them to you.

Scott,

I got the stuff. They are gonna need a little steaming. The stupid postman stuffed them into my little mailbox. They should turn out good, tho. Thanks a bunch!
