Florida trip
« on: January 04, 2010, 07:52:01 AM »
Well I actually came back, how foolish am I to leave 75 degrees to come back to this? Well I guess I gotta eat so I'm back. The weather was great, the fishing very good, and the golf was good. Here are some pics.

its not a blue gill as we know it. It is a Spotted Tilapia, an invasive species but not planted by Fl or any one else/

Looks like a nice time. Where abouts in Florida? I have some friends that live on Marco Island. It is
alot of fun to go down there in the winter.

Tilapia, while invasive, are decent eating and from what I've been told, are a blast tocatch.

We were about 50 miled north on miami in Boynton Beach. I was fishing the golf coarse ponds and they reuse all the water so the fish are NOT to be eaten.

Zoan,
As soon as it warms up just a bit. I fished over Christmas but it was somewhat less comfortable than passing a kidney stone. Nearly as cold as the last trip we made there. Thats not to say I didn't enjoy it though!  :3

First time on this site.
I am heading to Florida March 1st. I will be in Marco Island area. I am pulling my 18' Lund with me so I don't go stir crazy. Any suggestions on where to do some fishing. I would love to find some bluegills.

Welcome,

Take a camera along and post some pictures that way I'll have something to think about when I'm running the snow blower.
